Hello everyone, I’m new to vanning and looking for more information about any events or clubs in or around northwest Indiana. I have a 62 econoline pañal van that I’m working on and would love to join a community that has the knowledge behind them.

On a whim I looked up your web site and was excited to read about the 1977 truck-in in Monticello, Indiana in 1977. I was there! My boyfriend at the time (Mike Perpich) has a redish /maroon van and we had just started going out. Many of our friends were there from the hegewish/East Side in Chicago attended. Mike was in a bans called "DREAM" who played all over the south side of Chicago (Luigi's) abd often at Jimmy D's bar in East Chicago Indiana. Some where I know I have pictures. I will try to locate them and send them to your club. Thank you for the memories.

Hello MVL, I'm getting ready to fill out my registration for your anual event in May and thought I'd drop you a note. I bought my 77 Street Van new in January 1977, like all of us I worked on the van over the years and attended events when I could. I did quite a few events in the late 70's around the Midwest, I lived in Manteno, IL at the time. I know I hung out with some Midwest Vanners but just can't seem to remember any names. The only one that comes to me that I think was an MVL member was Mike with a van named "Rolling with the Flow"? Anyway life happened and my Dodge sat on blocks for more than 20 years. Back around 2012 I discovered Vannin.com and found Vanning to be alive and well. I worked on getting my Dodge running and connected with a couple local Vanners in Indiana (Scott Campell is one of them) but then moved to the boonies in Colorado where there weren't many vans or vanners. Well, I'm back in Northern Indiana and plan to get back into Vanning. I look forward to your event in May and maybe connecting with some Vanners from "Back in the day" along with meeting new friends. My van was my daily driver back then and it's in the same condition now but I don't plan on doing much to it other than mechanical stuff. I have some pics from back in the day that I'm having digitized, I don't have a lot of old pics but just maybe I have a few from one of your events. Did y'all do "High in the Hills"? I think I have a few pics from one year there and I know I have my dash plaque and an award plaque. All for now, I'm looking forward to meeting y'all in May. I was a avid vanner in the 70s. Went to 3 nationals and many smaller events. I live in north east indiana. I found a rust free 1977 Dodge Van 4 years ago and now have it restored to be better than the 77 I used to have. I took it to the 46th and 46th nationals and planning on going to the nationals this year. I would like to go to some of the smaller events in the midwest, but usually find out about them after there over. Is there a website I haven't found that has a list of events for 2002? Thank you for any help.

So cool to see MVL is still "Truckin! We were members from 1972-1975 and helped set up the Northwest - Fox Valley chapters in the Elgin area with the help of Bruce G. and the Aurora folks. Can't forget Ron J., Howard F.,Marilyn W. and Charlie Parker for getting it all processed through Van Council.

We're downsizing now and found a bunch of Van stuff that has followed us around the country for 40-some years. If anyone wants to complete their collection, let me know. We have very early stickers, membership cards, patches, dash plaques, buttons and license plate from 1972-1975. One 1st MVL Truck-in sticker, one 2nd International Truck-in patch, one 3rd National Truck-in sticker and dash plaque, one 4th National Truck-in sticker and dash plaque. There are 3 "Keep on Van' In" buttons as well. MVL (Aurora Region) Business Cards. Hillside Van Show dash plaque, MVL Road Rallye 1975 - Addison Chapter.

There are three issues of the Truckin' Tribune too (lots of photos)- Volume 1, #11 and 12, plus Volume 2 #2.

Also, for the motorheads, we've got three like-new owner's manuals; 1965 GMC, 1974 and 1975 Chevy vans.

Hi, my name is Kimberly and I remember the 1977 truck in, in Monticello. I had the best time of my life. I was 6months pregnant and that weekend immensely. My irish setter got pregnant at the truck in. I enjoyed watching the mud skiing and of course the people and the partying. Thanks for keeping this club strong for so many years.

Hi Folks, We were at the 1st National Truck-In at Tiger Run in Breckenridge. Wow! What a long time ago! My van made it into the 'Keep On Truckin' picture. It was a long white Dodge near the big crowd. Some young lady took off her top and that is why the crowd gathered. I still have a copy of Hot Rod with that 2-page spread in it. What an awesome trip! Thanks to the folks who organized it.

A few days later in Los Angeles, we met some vanners we had seen in Breckenridge. They had a club in L.A. and treated us like gold. We stayed out there a week with them. I also still have the little Truck-In badge from that event.

I was looking at old pictures the other day and came across one from the 1977 show in Monticello, Indiana that I went to because I lived in West Lafayette, Indiana at the time. I could barely make it out as it was from a Polaroid camera and was almost completely washed out. I atteneded the show in a friends 1961 Ford Falcon van with 6 or 7 people that stayed in the van that weekend! I remember the fake town that was built and the bonfires, can't remember much else about that weekend...

We bought a 1967 Dodge a-100 last year. Amazing condition! We now use it as our "delivery vehicle" / marketing machine. There is a blossoming van scene in Kansas City that I had no idea existed until we bought that van last year. We are looking to do a van show in KC sometime this summer. Do you know anyone here in Kansas City who we should be in touch with? We wanted to do a van show for a charity event.

We were just featured in Slowly We Roll Vanzine (on instagram @slowlyweroll). You can also find some pictures of what we, and other KC vanners are up to on our Instagram @Thou_Mayest

Cheers!

Holy Crap! 41 years and still counting....... I never thought I would live past 40. Good to see you guys are still going and having fun, van gigs are an indelible mark on my memory. I rarely see vans on the road here in NJ so I guess everyone moved out west to hang with you guys.

As a member of EZ Rollin' Vans in NJ we still have a few of us that get together and talk about the drugs we take like Lipitor, Antacid, Pepto Bismol, Viagra, Cialis to name a few but most of all we love talking about the wild times of the 1970's attending gigs like Sleaze Lake, Englshtown and Unnaural Act.

Keep on Truckin' and NEVER forget that Disco is Dead...... And always was dead in our section of planet earth.

Looked to see if this club was still active. YES!! In the summer of 1974 (I think) me and my uncles were headed to Lake Shaeffer to go fishing. We began to be passed by a lot of custom vans displaying a Midwest Vans LTD license plate. Custom vans, absolutely beautiful paint jobs. They were all pulling off the road so we decided to follow. In a pickup truck with a johnboat in the back. We got stopped while entering. And joined on the spot! We parked and the uncles disappeared. I was 14 at the time. I meandered around, someone gave me a beer and Dobermans almost ate me. LOL We all had a great time. 2 questions. 1.Are there still beautifully painted full mural paint jobs? I never see one around. These vans were unbelievably beautiful! 2. Anyone remember the truck/boat/idiots? What a blast!

Long story on how I came across this page but it sure brought back alot of memories. My Dad and Uncle were members of Lakefront Vans out of Chicago. I went to several Truck-ins as a kid. I loved my Dads van. It was a 76 Dodge painted silver with a mural of a witch walking in a graveyard on it. Some really great memories. Makes me want to buy a van!!

Hi, I was just curious if you have pictures of the truck-in in Rensalier, Indiana from 1976-1977. I still have a few pictures of this truck-in. My husband David Kalins and myself Kim Kalins went with Cliff and Elsie Selby, Rick and Doris Lamb and quite a few others. We had such a good time and this is still a part of my history that I enjoyed.

We sure had a great time at Andy's Hid-away in the 70's. Had 1200 vans there once. We were putting vans in the corn field. Also built a town out of scrap lumber. Any one else remember those days? I have a Midwest Vavs hat pin and a large banner if anyone is interested in them. KEEP ON TRUCKIN.

Hello Midwest Vans Ltd.;

I found your website while on another "Vannin" site. I'm glad to see there is a van club here in Michigan though I'm not sure what part of Michigan your from. I'm from White Pigeon (St. Joe County} which is where US 131 & US 12 intersect just north of the Indiana state line around Elkhart County. Nice looking website here and it looks by the pictures that everyone seems to be enjoying the club.

Take care Jim

Whats up fellow vanners i am not new to vans but new to the community. i now have a 68 GMC handivan before that i had a 78 ford econoline. well i just dropped a 350 in my 68 and still have to hook it up. but i am looking for some vanners in the Indianapolis and surrounding areas. i would like to be involed in a van club around here. i am already involed in a bunch of motorcycle chartiy rides so the plate can get full at times but i would enjoy hanging out and checking out what others have done to their vans and switch stories about the different things that could be done to these vans. i hope to meet a bunch of you 2%'ers sometime and it is great to see the van community still alive and kicking!

Hi, Just wondering how many members are still around from '88? I came over as part of the 'Famous 5 go west' crew to the Springfield 16th National Tuck-in. If you were there and remember us get in touch.

I cannot believe you guys are still going strong. I started the nasty Oak Lawn chapter at my mom's house in Burbank and finished up in the old Blue Island chapter. I see that Flame is still around and I was wondering if your activities manager Howard is the same big old Howard that was around from the get go. I think he had an early Ford van like mine. I had a brown 66 Ford with some pretty nice murals painted on the sides. Those were some of the best days of my life. Glad to see you are still going strong. Keep On Trucking !!

I was an active member in 1977-81, Dupage and Elmhurst Chapters. '77 Dodge Maxivan (440, homebuilt interior, 1.5Megawatts of driving lights on the front). Currently own 1997 Dodge LWB conv with plans to make major mods. Wish I kept that 440 block! Really glad to see the club has survived all of the political, economic and oil crises.

Sure miss "Birdcage" - RIP my friend!

Just looking to find events to participate in with my van. Anything in the Chicago area is most likely something I can attend with short notice. So an events schedule, I know it is late in the year for 2011, however, there is still some sunshine left! :)

Hi there, Roger and Marilyn. Sorry it took a month to respond, it won't happen again... Always think about you when I'm traveling through the Atlanta area... If your wondering, I changed my handle from Crap Game to Game. Good to hear from you, If you would send myself or George a message with your e-mail so we can converse? You can do this on the home page, just scroll down to officers and click on either of our names! Thanks, and it's great hearing from you.

I am trying to find a good home for this rare van for my client.I am selling this van for a client and upon researching the van, found this is away of life and want to ensure it finds a good new owner. She has to sell the item due to health reasons. Please refer to link below!

Hello Kats and Kittys. I would like to, first of all, thank Midwest Vans for accepting me as a Limited Member on this site. THANKS!! I then met Vince Kijewski from Midwest Vans, around mid '80's, and he introduced me to his friends from Midwest Vans. This group of individuals were righteous, loving, and knew how to F**kin" party. My kind of people!! I am a "Region Rat' and a proud Harley woman! Rock On and Peace Out.

My Dad was a member in the 70's. I remember going on a few rallys with him. Those were great times. I'm glad to see your all still "Keep on Truckin". I went to the big rally in Monticello, Ind. That was a blast. Even for a kid. I can only imagine for the adults back than.

Hey all, I hope you like the changes to the site. Our host has added a bunch of stuff and I have been playing around with it a bit and I think I have most everything working right. If you have problems with the new sidebar ending up at the bottom of the page, go to "view" in your browser and zoom out. That should put it where it belongs. Let me know what you think.
